Every alert comes from a transparent statistical test against decades of real earthquake data — never from a black box. 1. **Register your places.** Add the locations you care about — home, family, the summer house. Each maps onto calibrated seismic zones drawn around the regional fault systems that actually threaten it, not around city limits. 2. **Every zone knows its normal.** Decades of each country's own earthquake catalogs give every zone a baseline of typical activity. The server watches national data sources around the clock and keeps each zone's state current. 3. **Alerts when the numbers say so.** When recent activity rises measurably above the zone's own baseline, the zone goes into alert — a period of elevated statistical probability, nothing more and nothing less. You get a notification in your language. ## No predictions Earthquakes cannot be predicted. Risk can be measured. QuakeLens is built around what seismology can and cannot do. It is a lens on the data, not a crystal ball. - **An alert is elevated probability.** The same statistical language seismologists use for aftershock risk — never a claim that an earthquake is coming. - **Most alerts pass quietly.** Elevated activity usually calms back down without a damaging earthquake. That is expected, and the app says so. - **Quiet does not mean safe.** Most large earthquakes strike with no measurable warning signs at all.
